Final Pageant Weekend Prep

Hi Friends! I spent this last week finalizing my packing list, scheduling a hair appointment, getting my dress to the tailors, and packing up my suitcases. Here are the details of this part of the journey!!

I finally decided on my formal wear gown and it was just a tad too long; being 5’2 has its challenges in the formal wear department, but thankfully I was able to get the alterations done quickly with the greatest tailor shop in town!! I was able to meet with the tailor’s at Olmira’s Tailor Shop in Andover, MN and the owner generously prioritized my alterations. She did an impeccable job with my gown and the pricing was great! I had mentioned the gown was for my Miss Minnesota pageant and she was excited to be working with another Miss Minnesota contestant. She told me she’s done work for several other pageant contestants in years past, which was a fun connection to make!

Keeping up with my blond has always been a whirlwind, so scrambling to book a hair appointment this last week was another adventure, to say the least. I usually let my blond hair be during the summer months and the sun naturally lightens my new growth, but I haven’t been out in the sun much the last few weeks, so I went on the search to book an appointment at a salon. It was difficult finding a salon nearby that had openings, but I finally found a place that had a last minute cancellation open up! I went to see Lauren at The Jungle Family Hair Salon in Elk River, MN. Lauren did a fabulous job with my blond highlights and was such a fun person to talk with! If you know me, I love chatting with people and making new friends wherever I go and everyone at the salon was super friendly!

Oh my lanta! I feel like I’ve packed my entire life in my suitcases for this weekend trip! I ran thru my packing list nearly 6 times making sure I didn’t forget anything. Being new to the pageant world, I definitely overpacked. I designated an entire suitcase for my hair and make-up necessities. An entire suitcase for casual outfits. An entire suitcase for my shoes and accessories, and all of my formal wear outfits secured in garment bags. Girl’s gotta have options!!

After packing, I made several trips out to the car to load it up and off we were to Wisconsin!
