Hey everyone!
As 2021 came to an end, I had a few closing thoughts for this whirlwind of a year. These are a few habits that I have integrated into my routine that have helped me to slow down a bit during the hectic day-to-day life.
I have recently taken up reading again and I am so glad I did. And I’m talking real, physical books, like… with paper in them. I’ve really enjoyed diving back into fictional worlds and watching as characters develop over the course of their stories. I feel like this has been good for my soul, so I plan to keep up with it going into the new year. What are some of your favorite books?
Another healthy habit I have taken a keen liking to is walking. I am apart of a walking group within my community, but taking solo walks during my breaks at work have helped me refocus my mind by getting a breath of fresh air during particularly stressful days. Also good for my soul, and I live on a lake so the views aren’t too shabby either. Although it can sometimes be tough to find the motivation to bundle up and go for a walk in the winter.
Some things that have helped me with winding down at the end of the day are watching mindless tv series, reading, organizing my room, lighting candles and sitting in my room in the quietness. This has helped me to relax at the end of the day and gear up for the day ahead. Plus, my life has never been more organized and put together, lol. What are your go-to tv shows to mindlessly play in the background while you’re doing other stuff?
I’ve set the tenacious goal to go thru all of my belongings at the start of the year because I have accumulated A LOT in the past few years and it’s time. It’s time to clean some stuff out and donate so other people can cherish the joy in them too 🙂
I’m slightly scared to open up my storage unit only to stare blankly at all the bins for 20 minutes trying to decide where to start, but we’ll cross that bridge when it comes.. send me luck and positive energy, ha!
My final closing thought for 2021 was gratitude. Gratitude for all of the adventures I experienced throughout the year. The good ones and the bad. It made for a really exciting year and a lot of personal growth. Here’s to 2022!
To start your year off — What is one goal you are wanting to complete in January 2022?
Happy New Year!
