☄️Geminid Meteor Shower

The roomies and I watched the Geminid Meteor Shower from Deck 9 while sailing across the Pacific Ocean on December 12, 2018. We sat out on the deck loungers for hours as we were making our way from Japan to Hawai’i. Being in the middle of the ocean and away from light pollution gave us amazing views of the stars and meteors passing by. At the peak of the showers, around 4am, I counted nearly 50 meteors that passed by within the hour! It was spectacular!

This experience was so surreal and one that my inner space geek will cherish forever. This was a moment that was something I don’t think I would have experienced had I not been circumnavigating the globe with Semester at Sea.

Next port: Hawai’i, USA🇺🇸

(These pictures are edited but this is what the sky looked like in person. I wish my camera could have captured it.)
